Deep Dive

Finally, an opportunity for UNM freshmen to get below the surface!

Piloting in the Fall 2021 semester, a limited number of students participating in UNM introductory courses can enroll in an additional credit hour each week to engage in research dialogue with a UNM faculty member – better known as a Deep Dive. This is a unique space for students to be introduced to the concept of undergraduate research at an R1 institution.

CONNECTING IDEAS TO RESEARCH IN SOCIOLOGY - with Eli Wilson

LAIS 309.640 (CRN: 71429) & SOCI 1110 (CRN: 63798)

Sociology is the systematic examination of social life. It is a way of seeing, engaging, and interpreting the world around us, as well as the major issues that affect our communities. But what makes this process “systematic”? How do people turn questions they have about the social world into research discoveries, really? This Deep Dive course, led by Dr. Wilson, allows students to learn about these issues in a casual setting. The aim is to inspire students to engage in future research of their own.
