Sarah D. Smith, Esq.

Sarah Smith is Principal Lecturer II at the UNM Anderson School of Management and holds the Rust Professorship in Business Ethics.  She teaches courses that focus on business ethics and the important relationship between business and society.  Sarah devotes hundreds of volunteer hours annually to Anderson School service work and other outreach efforts within the business community.  She is the 2014 recipient of the Anderson School’s Faculty Community Leadership Award.

Prior to teaching at Anderson, Sarah was Ethics and Compliance Director at PNM Resources and before that served as a corporate attorney in PNM’s office of General Counsel.  In this capacity, she handled a broad array of regulatory and other legal matters for the company. 

Originally from Alamogordo, New Mexico, Sarah received her BA in political science from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and her law degree from the UNM School of Law.  Sarah enjoys cooking, cycling, hiking and just spending time in the beautiful New Mexico outdoors whenever possible. She especially loves spending time with friends and family, including her two dogs – Lily and Dana.
