Kalila Bohsali

Department: English Language & Literature

Hello everyone. My name is Kalila Bohsali and I'm an instructor and Ph.D. student in the English department. I am also a New Mexico resident, and I grew up on a farm in Northern New Mexico. I received my BA in English and French and my Masters in English from the University of New Mexico, and I pride myself on being somewhat of an expert on UNM resources for students. I hope I can be of some help with this after being here for nearly a decade. I am also the Instructor for American Indian Student Services summer bridge program and a writing tutor at CAPS. My research interests vary, but I have studied and written on humanist geography, stand-up comedy and humor structures, place and space theory, science fiction, experimental poetry, Womanism, critical race theory, and different forms of radical pedagogy and student empowerment in the classroom.

When I'm not reading, writing, or teaching, I enjoy gardening, hovering over my house plants, and trying to workout as much as possible (a constant struggle of will power).
