Dawn Nordquist

Department: Linguistics

I did not learn about the field of Linguistics until I was a senior in college, but my first 101 course was such a formative experience that I chose to pursue a doctorate in Linguistics, which is what brought me to UNM.  Now, as a Learning Community faculty member, I strive to give my students the same kind of unique experience that I had when I learned about the ways in which language works and functions in our lives.  I have taught in Communication & Journalism and the Center for English Language and Culture, but I have been a Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics since 2015.  My most recent research looks at historical and present-day changes in English verbs.
